College of Education for Women Promotes Sustainability Culture and Environmental Awareness
“Green Day Festival” – Second Edition for the Academic Year 2025–2026
Al-Shattri emphasized the importance of promoting environmental awareness and embedding a culture of sustainability within the university campus, noting that such activities represent a practical step toward achieving sustainable development goals.
Under the patronage of the President of University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Hassan Atiya Al-Zughaybi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Women and Director of the Center for Women’s Studies, Professor Dr. Athmar Shakir Majeed Al-Shattri, and organized by Assistant Professor Dr. Athraa Abdul Hussein Nassir, the second edition of the Green Day Festival was held on the morning of Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Al-Nasr Garden at the College of Education for Women.
The event witnessed broad participation from scientific departments, divisions, and administrative and academic units, reflecting a spirit of cooperation and institutional teamwork.
The festival was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Suhail Najm Abdullah; the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Professor Dr. Sabah Qasim Khalaf; the Dean of the Laser Institute, Professor Dr. Kadhim Abdul Wahid Adim; the Director of Security Permits and Follow-up, Dr. Diaa Al-Quraishi; the representative of the Academics Syndicate, Professor Dr. Omar Jumaa; the Assistant Director of the University Office, Dr. Muntathar Al-Baydhani; Dr. Marwan Al-Tamimi; the Assistant Director of Security Permits and Follow-up, Mr. Issam Al-Attabi; Mr. Imad Al-Shaibani; and the Director of the University Environment Department, Mr. Najah Hassan Abbas.
The festival included a variety of environmental and awareness activities aimed at promoting concepts of sustainable development, encouraging green initiatives, and highlighting the role of academic institutions in environmental protection. It also featured presentations of activities by scientific departments and their contributions to spreading the culture of Green Day.
This festival is part of the ongoing efforts of the College of Education for Women to reinforce the values of Green Day and achieve one of the sustainable development goals, contributing to building a healthy and sustainable university environment and enhancing environmental responsibility among students, faculty, and administrative staff.
