The College of Education for Women, founded in 1984, originally had nine academic departments: Arabic Language, English Language, History, Geography, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Physical Education. In the academic year 2001-2002, the College of Science for Women emerged from the College of Education for Women, and it included the disciplines that are related to natural sciences. In its present form, the College of Education for Women includes, but not limited to, a wide range of humanities programs. It has ten departments: Arabic Language, English Language, History, Geography, Home Economics, Kindergarten, Educational and Psychological Sciences, Quran Sciences and Islamic Education, Sociology, and Computer Sciences. The College of Education for Women is ranked first among Colleges of Education in the University of Baghdad.
