Department of Home Economics at the College of Education for Women was established in 1984. It is the only department that offers this academic major in Iraq. The courses of the department include textile and clothing, home management and design, biology, nutrition, and food science. The department has a lab to practice and develop students’ skills. Students are prepared for jobs related to their area of study like teachers, interior designers, dietetics, and childcare workers. The curriculum prepares women for motherhood and home management.
