Prof. Dr. Isaac Salih Alakaam and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Mays Sadkhan carried out a research on the shrinking of water supplies to the Tigris-Euphrates River System that Iraqi people rely on. Dr. Alakaam mentioned that water level in the river Tigris has decreased by 50%. AlAakam stressed that streamflow in the Tigris River Basin has dropped from 1000 m3/s to 450 m3/s, and warned of imminent humanitarian crisis. Alakaam said that the government has to put effective plans and address the water crisis with the neighboring countries.
