Department of Geography held a symposium on the causes and effects of persistent dust storms in Iraq, at the Lecture Hall of the Dept. of Sociology, on April 5, 2023. The speakers of the symposium mentioned that Iraq has been exposed to dust storms throughout history, and in cities like Kufah and Mosul. The main causes of sand storms in Iraq are in the arid regions in South Mosul, West Iraq, East Jordan, and North Saudi Arabia.
