On Tuesday morning, 18/2/2025, the College of Education for Women held the activities of the Green Day, under the slogan (Together for a Green Tomorrow) on the corridors of the college gardens, with the wide participation of students of the college departments and the supervision of professors, and the implementation of the Green Day Activities Committee.

The activities were opened by the respected President of the Iraqi Academics Syndicate, Dr. Ali Mesir Yassin, and the Dean of the College, Dr. Athmar Al-Shatri, and the opening was attended by the Dean of the College of Mass Communication at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ammar Taher, the respected Dean of the College of Education at Al-Farahidi University, Dr. Hussein Sabhan, the Dean of the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, and the assistants, heads of scientific departments and college employees.

The President of the Academic Syndicate, Dr. Ali Mesir, pointed out that plants represent symbols of beauty and ecological balance, noting that educating students about their importance can help enhance the sense of belonging to nature, which enhances the values of sustainability and environmental preservation.

In turn, the Dean of the College, Dr. ِthmar Al-Shatri, indicated that the activities of the Green Day contribute to a major role in caring for the environment and oxygen production, and are considered the main source of food and medicine and play a major role in regulating the climate and improving air quality, and students’ understanding of the importance of sustainable agriculture and plant preservation, which enhances their responsibility towards the environment on campus.

The activities also included planting trees and plants in the corridors of the college and its surroundings, and an exhibition of environmentally friendly handicrafts and home works for a number of college students, including knitting, sewing, drawing, decoration, and food industry.
