About the Workshop

The Applied Kindergarten Laboratory was established in 1986 when the Kindergarten Department opened. It is considered the department’s first practical laboratory.

It receives a limited number of children of the University’s academic and administrative staff. In 2022, the laboratory became the Applied Kindergarten Workshop to meet work requirements and quality standards. It is not a residential kindergarten; it is a laboratory in which female students in all four years of study apply lectures and practical lessons through scientific and practical work on theories of development, guidance, assessment, nutrition, music, health, and other subjects.

The workshop receives children aged 4–5 years, in the early-childhood stage.

It follows a unit-based curriculum, such as the “Spring” and “My Kindergarten” units, and uses a system of learning corners.

The workshop includes:

A classroom for the kindergarten stage and a classroom for the preparatory stage.

A dining hall.

A large hall containing kindergarten learning corners, such as health, science, and home corners.

Outcomes of the Applied Kindergarten Workshop

  • It graduates teachers who have spent four years gaining practical training in working with children in early childhood, in line with the developmental needs of children at this stage.
  • It graduates female students who can manage kindergartens competently because they have studied kindergarten management in an academic setting.
  • It helps children graduating from the kindergarten gain motor and cognitive skills in thinking and problem solving.
  • It provides guidance to parents on dealing with a child who has behavioral difficulties and offers behavioral guidance sessions intended to modify that behavior.
  • It enables children to take part in festivals and celebrations associated with the activities of the department and the College.
